SC directs medical examination of Justice Karnan

A seven judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India, Justice JS Khehar of Supreme Court ordered for the medical examination of the Calcutta High Court Judge Justice CS Karnan on May 4. A board of doctors will be constituted in the government hospital of Kolkata to examine him. The Director General of Police of West Bengal has been instructed to assist the board of doctors. Justice Karnan said, “Might issue suo moto suspension order against West Bengal DGP if he comes to check my mental health forcefully,” He requested the Court for restoration of his judicial and administrative power which he was denied. In fact, the Court directed all the other Courts,tribunals, commissions not to consider any of his orders passed after February 8. It also took suo motu cognizance of the letter written against the judges of Madras High Court and Supreme Court by Justice Karnan. After the directions of the Apex Court, Justice Karnan said he will not be appearing before the Court again and the also said the Supreme Court’s order is not sustainable by law. The medical report is sought to be submitted on May 8. “Action against me is being taken by corrupt judges, won’t take any medical test,” Karnan said. He also added “I am being targeted as I am a Dalit,”
